Center for the Performing Arts Pre-School & Kindergarten Programs

Welcome to the Center for the Performing Arts! We are thrilled that you have chosen us to be a part of your child’s dance life. As a continuing effort to fine tune our program for our youngest students, and to listen to our client’s feedback, we have re-vamped and improved our policies to accommodate every family’s schedule and needs. We now have options 6 days per week, including morning, afternoon, early evening as well as Saturday morning classes. We are proud of the changes we have made and the environment we provide for our youngest students.

Our new Pre-School Director, Elisha Analoro is a life long dancer and has been a dance educator for more than 15 years. She holds a BA from St. Anselm College, is a pre-school teacher by day, and is currently a preschool teacher at The Village School in Boxford, MA. She will oversee the program to ensure that all of our pre-school through kindergarten students are receiving the very best dance education possible for their age group. We hope you enjoy your time at the studio and look forward to a wonderful dance season with your family.

Class descriptions:

Move and Groove for Toddlers

This class is designed for students 12 months - 2 years old. This would be one of the first opportunities for the child to interact with others to learn to take turns and take direction from an adult other than their parent. The class focusses on gross motor coordination and cognitive skills such as color and shape recognition while stretching and moving to age appropriate music.

There is no uniform requirement for this class. The student should wear loose comfortable clothing and socks.

This class does not perform in any of our performances. It is the most laid back and low key class in our program and meets once per week. If a child has a separation issue, the parent is invited to sit in on the class and participate if necessary, since we want the experience to be as positive and happy as possible! This is a month to month class, and we require a one week notice if the child is not going to continue the following month so that we can open up the slot to another student.

Tiny Dancers and Working Parent’s Pre-school class

These classes are designed for students 2-4 years old who have had some experience in a social setting outside of the home. They are able to separate from their parents relatively easily, and are comfortable taking direction from a teacher. The class combines Creative Movement, which includes stretching and gross motor skills as well as an intro to very beginner ballet steps. We introduce tap during the last 10-15 minutes of class.

Uniform requirement includes a pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers and tan tap shoes.

This class will be invited to perform in both of our recitals, it is purely optional (*please see recital info below). If a child chooses not to participate, they are still invited to take class through the end of the year. This is a month to month class, and we require a one week notice if the child is not going to continue the following month so that we can open up the slot to another student.

Pre-Kindergarten class

This class is designed for students age 4-5 who miss the kindergarten cut off for school, but are ready for a more focused and disciplined class. It is similar to the pre-school class, but progresses slightly faster and includes more dance steps and terminology.

Suggested uniform requirement is a black or pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers and tan tap shoes.

This class will be invited to perform in both of our recitals, it is purely optional (*please see recital info below). If a child chooses not to participate, they are still invited to take class through the end of the year. This is a month to month class, and we require a one week notice if the child is not going to continue the following month so that we can open up the slot to another student.

Kindergarten class

This class is designed for students age 5-6 who are enrolled in a kindergarten class daily, and are familiar with a classroom setting. They are able to wait in line, take turns, and listen and take direction from the instructor. They are able to stay in the classroom for the entire class. The class consists of beginner ballet, intro to jazz and tap.

Suggested uniform requirement is a black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers and tan tap shoes.

This class will have 2 performance opportunities; one in December for our holiday show, and one in May for our year-end recital. Both opportunities are purely optional (*please see recital info below). If a child chooses not to participate, they are still invited to participate in the class. Enrollment in this class is for the school year (Sept – May), however, if a child chooses to un-enroll, we must receive a one week’s notice to make room from our waitlist.

Note: Class size is limited. All classes are 45 minutes in length and have a month to month commitment. Price is $61/month (we offer discounts for EFT payments, please inquire upon registration for this option). We must be notified one week prior to the last day of the month if you are withdrawing from a class to open up the slot from our waitlist. If we are not notified you will be charged for the following month.
